The Great American Novel To Kill a Mockingbird was originally published on July 11, 1960. Long a high school English class staple, it received a fresh wave of attention on its 50th anniversary in 2010, when names from the book began to rise in popularity. Atticus, Radley, and even Finch are used. Scout, the nickname of the young girl who narrates the novel, was given to 285 baby girls and 122 baby boys in the US last year, making it a favorite gender-neutral name. Scout entered the Top 1000 for girls for the first time ever in 2018.
