Rochbert
Germanic, "shining, bright crow"
If Robert feels too popular but Rocco and Rocky lean to casual for you, this rare Germanic name might be worth pondering. The name was introduced to us by Nameberry Reader, Lily, who shared how she discovered it and why it’s special to her:
“I came across it when googling for a long version of Rocco, which is the name I wanted to give my son. I discovered that Saint Rocco (or Saint Roche) was a saint of plagues, and Rocco was conceived during a heightened period of covid restriction, so it seemed appropriate.”
There are several interpretations of its meaning, including “shining crow” and “bright ruler”, though it has been listed as historical form of Robert too.
