Actress Thora Birch was born on March 11, 1982 in Los Angeles, California.
Thora rose to fame as a child actress in the 90s, but her adult career was launched with her portrayal of Jane Burnham in the 1999 film, American Beauty.
Thora’s parents named her after Thor, the Norse god of thunder, and fittingly Birch has a younger brother named Bolt.
As Nora, Cora, Aurora, and other -ora names have their shining moments, Thora has surprisingly remained out of the spotlight.
Feeling both powerful and strong yet soft and vintage, and with a mythological connection to top it off, it is surprising that Thora was given to only 50 baby girls last year.
Tora is another intriguing, and even more rare, variation of the name that deserves consideration.
