American actor Channing Matthew Tatum was born on April 26, 1980 in Alabama.
Tatum had his breakthrough performance in the 2006 dance film Step Up, and has since made a name for himself as America’s heartthrob through his roles in Magic Mike (and sequels), She’s the Man, and 21 Jumpstreet amongst others.
The actor was highly influential in the popularity of his first name. The name Channing leapt onto the charts in 2010 for boys, peaking in 2012 at #513 (the year of the first Magic Mike film).
While Channing has since fallen out of favor and off the charts, unisex Tatum is hot as ever. Rising for both girls and boys (sitting at #274 and #318 respectively), Tatum is strong and energetic.
Tatum has numerous other namesakes as well, including jazz legend Art Tatum and actress Tatum O’Neal. And now Tatum is destined for an even bigger reign, as Khloe Kardashian revealed it to be the name of her young son last May.
