Actress and Singer-songwriter Halle Lynn Bailey was born on March 27, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Halle came to fame as half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle, with her sister Chloe Bailey. Halle has since earned five Grammy nominations, and recently starred in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
The name Halle brings to mind another renowned actress, Halle Berry — born Marie Halle Berry — who has been one of the highest-payed actresses throughout the 2000s.
The name Halle originated as a masculine nickname for the name Harold in Sweden, but today is considered feminine through and through.
While the slightly more intuitive Hallie spelling is dominant today at #227 and rising fast, Halle is having a moment of its own, rising over 200 places in the last few years.
Both spellings were especially popular in the early 2000s (when Bailey was born), and after a brief but significant dip in popularity in the 2010s, they are back in full force as an alternative to former favorites Allie and Callie.
