Dalisay:
Dalisay — pronounced “dah-LEE-say” is a lovely virtue name, meaning “pure” in the language Tagalog. Tagalog is an Austronesian language spoken in the Philippines, which later was used to form the standardized national language Filipino.
Dalisay is also a surname in the Philippines, familiar to many through the character Ricardo “Cardo” Dalisay in the action drama series “Ang Probinsyano” (known internationally as “Brothers”).
Beautifully melodic and with a nice meaning to match, Dalisay shares elements with the rising Delilah and Delaney, while maintaining a distinct sound from the top girl’s names today.
Other lyrical options originating from Filipino languages include Malaya meaning “free”, Ligaya meaning “happiness”, and Diwata meaning “goddess”.
