Woods:
Golfer Tiger Woods — born Eldrick Tont Woods — was born on December 30, 1975 in California.
Woods is tied for first in PGA Tour wins, ranks second in men's major championships, and holds many other golf records. Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time and is one of the most famous athletes in modern history.
Woodsy boy names are one of the biggest naming trends today, with names like Forest, Wilder, Cedar, and Silas taking off. They are outdoorsy and rugged, and are both masculine and soft. And what is more woodsy than Woods itself?
Woods feels like a natural successor to two of the hottest boy names in recent years: Brooks and Rhodes. The single-syllable, ending in -s phenomenon is also seen in rising picks like Hayes, Briggs, and Wells.
We are seeing Woods start to take off, although it still remains rare. In 2022, 88 baby boys were named Woods, whereas in 2021 there were only 66, and in 2020 just 41.
It is for all of these reasons that Woods was one of my nominations of the top names we’re watching for 2024 — names that we editors at Nameberry expect to significantly rise in popularity next year.
