Marshall
English, "one who looks after horses"
Earthy and outdoorsy but smart and solid too, Marshall is a familiar choice that’s appeared in the US Top 1000 every year since it started in the 1880s! Nameberry Member User10 shares what made her fall in love with the name:
“When I was pregnant with our first, we were watching the T.V. show How I Met Your Mother and our favorite characters were Marshall and Lily. The character Marshall is fiercely loyal, supportive, kind, thoughtful, smart, funny, emotional, strong — all the things!
Marshall has everything we wanted in a name. It has soft sounds and a gender neutral, nature-inspired nickname, Marsh. But it also feels strong, like a leader. Its meaning is “caretaker of horses” which is so sweet to me as a fellow lover of horses! He is a vintage gem that never drops out of style and never gets too trendy — coasting around the sweet spot of 300-500 in the charts. It is so perfect for our son we couldn’t imagine him being called anything else.”
