Linus
Greek, "flax"
Linus Pauling, one of only five people to win the Nobel Prize in two different fields, Chemistry and Peace, passed away on August 19, 1994. Despite Pauling’s fame, the name Linus was long associated mainly with the blanket-clutching Peanuts character. Linus is both a mythological name and a cool unique saints’ name, borne by a musician and poet in Greek myth as well as by the second pope. Popular in Germany and Sweden, the name Linus was given to 129 baby boys in the US last year and seems poised for greater popularity.
