Laszlo
Hungarian, "glorious ruler"
I love a funky, offbeat name, and Laszlo is one of the quirkiest. It’s a Hungarian choice, properly spelled László, that is ultimately derived from the Slavic name Vladislav. Laszlo has been used for centuries and borne by many Hungarian royals.
Laszlo has yet to catch on in the English-speaking world, but may appeal to parents looking for a geek-chic boy name. Laszlo also has substantial artistic cred via Bauhaus painter and photographer László Moholy-Nagy.
Nameberry of the Day features our favorite names – but we want to showcase your favorites too! I know a Laszlo and he’s very cool lol. Not a name I’d use personally, but I respect it
