The United States celebrates President’s Day on February 19 each year — the date of the first President George Washington’s birthday. There are a number of presidential baby names ripe for choosing, one of the most stylish today being Harrison.
Harrison is the last name of two different presidents — William Henry Harrison, who served as president for only 30 days in 1841, and Benjamin Harrison, who was president from 1889 to 1893.
Harrison is one of the hottest surname names of recent years, but its history as a given name dates back surprisingly far. Harrison was at its highest rank ever in the US in 1888 at #52.
Harrison has always ranked in the Top 1000, but fell to the bottom of the charts for several decades until another notable Harrison came into the picture — actor Harrison Ford, who captured the world’s hearts through his portrayal of Han Solo in the Star Wars movies.
Following the release of the Star Wars films in the late 70s, Harrison began its ascent up the charts to where it has now comfortably settled just outside the US Top 100.
Quite literally meaning “son of Harry”, it is fitting that Prince Harry named his son Archie Harrison in 2019. In England, Harrison ranks at #49, as well as #36 in Scotland and #21 in Australia.
