Frida Kahlo, born July 6, 1907, is an influential Mexican painter known for her self-portraits with flower crown and unibrow. The name Frida is popular in Germany and Scandinavia but not so much in the English-speaking world. Along with near-identical twin sisters Frieda and Freda, it fell out of favor after the two world wars and still feels like an old lady name not quite ready for revival. Still, it has a lovely meaning: peace.
