On August 5, 1966, The Beatles released their album Revolver, which included the song Eleanor Rigby. Eleanor was a decidedly Old Lady Name in 1966, still on a long downward slide that started in the 1920s. The name began heading back uphill in the late 1980s, as a new generation of feminist parents began searching for serious names for baby girls. Today, Eleanor stands at Number 14, its highest point ever, giving proof to our Hundred Year Rule.
