Charli
French, "free man"
British pop singer and newlywed Charli XCX, born Charlotte Emma Aitchison, is celebrating her 33rd birthday on August 2. Charli has been one of the biggest hit names of recent years, in a range of spellings and gender identities. The Charli spelling is nearly 100% female, given to nearly 600 baby girls in the US last year and only five baby boys. Charlie is the most popular spelling for both girls and boys, with a 50-50 split of about 2100 babies of each gender, making it one of the most truly nonbinary names and also one of the Top 100 Playground Popularity names.
Charlee was used for nearly 800 baby girls but only 32 boys. Charley and Charleigh are nearly neck-in-neck with 385 and 368 girls, but there were 88 baby boys named Charley and none given the Charleigh spelling. Last place Charly was used for 82 baby girls and 38 boys, for a two to one split. And then there are all the little girls given the #4 name Charlotte and called, you guessed it, some variation of Charli.
