Singer and Wicked star Ariana Grande was born on June 26, 1993. She has propelled her creative girls’ name up the charts, though alternate spelling Arianna was also influenced by publisher Arianna Huffington. Ariana fell out of the official list of Top 100 girl names last year for the first time since 2000, though the success of Wicked might send it sailing back up again.

Also, between the two spellings, there might be more little Arianas/Ariannas — Ariani? — around than you might guess. There were more than 2500 baby girls named Ariana last year along with more than 1500 given the double-n spelling, which together place the name in the Top 50. Mother name Ariadne has ranked on the Top 1000 only six years in its 144-year history, 2014 through 2019, so if you’re looking for a name that’s rarer than the Arianas, you might consider that.
